FIX: Start menu not responding windows 10

Start menu not responding fix 2.0. For the previous post (1.0) click here. A lot of new windows 10 users have issues with the start menu not responding, because this is involving so many users I am making another blog post with another solution that might help. 


In the next few steps we will re-install all the windows apps. This is including your windows start menu. It will take a while, but for most users it solved the trouble with start menu slow.

For the quick steps follow this the next few steps. For a longer explanation with screenshots please scroll to the first image.

Quick steps:

  1. ‘Press Crtl + R
  2. type in ‘cmd’
  3. type powershell + press enter
  4. Copy paste the next snippet of code, + press enter.
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Try you start menu, and if it solved your issue please share or comment!

Longer explanation:

  1. right click on your start menu
  2. and click on ‘task manager’:

right click task manager

  1. Click on ‘file’
  2. Then click ‘Run new task’
    task manager file run

Type in CMD and press enterrun cmd

Type in powershell and press enter again:cmd powershell

Make sure you copy the snippet of code:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

 

  1. Right click next to C:\users\username\
  2. paste the code.

Press enter

paste code

All windows apps will be downloaded and installed again. Ignore any red text.. Wait for it to be finished and than try to open your start menu again.
